Meet Nutmeg 🌰
Nutmeg is a 15-year-old Jenny who came to Layla Rose Ranch as part of the same beloved herd of miniature donkeys surrendered through a deeply loving and thoughtful decision. Her previous owner cared for her and the rest of the herd very much but, due to health challenges, could no longer provide the level of daily care they needed. Wanting to ensure their continued well-being, she entrusted Nutmeg and her companions to us.
Nutmeg has a calm, gentle presence and the quiet confidence that comes with age. She enjoys routine, familiar surroundings, and the comfort of being near other donkeys. Having spent her life as part of a herd, she finds reassurance and security in donkey companionship.
Because of her social nature, Nutmeg’s ideal home must include another miniature donkey, or adopters should be willing to adopt a pair. Donkeys rely on their own kind for emotional well-being, and horses are not appropriate companions for miniature donkeys, as they do not meet the same social and behavioral needs.
Nutmeg would be a wonderful fit for an adopter who appreciates mature animals and understands the importance of consistent care, companionship, and a peaceful environment. In return, she offers gentle affection, steady companionship, and a deeply rewarding bond.
