Meet Lucky 🍀
Lucky is a 10-year-old papered Tennessee Walker who came to Layla Rose Ranch after experiencing a difficult past. While he has clearly known hardship, Lucky is safe now—and beginning the slow, important process of learning that people can be kind, consistent, and trustworthy.
Because of what he’s been through, trust is a challenge for Lucky. He needs time, patience, and clear boundaries to feel secure. He is not a horse for rushing or shortcuts; instead, he does best with calm, confident handling and a predictable routine that allows him to build confidence at his own pace.
Lucky was being ridden prior to coming to the ranch, but due to his history, we are restarting him from the ground up. His training is currently focused on rebuilding fundamentals, reinforcing good manners, and creating a solid emotional foundation before asking more of him. This reset is essential to setting him up for long-term success.
In a herd setting, Lucky does best paired with geldings only. He should not be housed with mares, as he can become possessive. Proper management and thoughtful turnout arrangements are important for his well-being and for maintaining harmony with other horses.
Lucky would thrive with an experienced adopter who understands horses with emotional baggage and values progress over speed. In the right hands, he has the potential to become a steady, rewarding partner—but he will require commitment, patience, and empathy.
